The Teen Drop-In is a Free opportunity for Teens in the Des Moines area to come to the John R. Grubb YMCA to relax, kick back, shoot some hoops, swim & enjoy the freedoms of our Teen Center. Supervised by two Teen Staff members, our Teen Center offers a foosball table, dartboard, a stress relieving & energy boosting 3 Kick Machine, a Big Screen TV equipped with an XBox 360, a stereo, a variety of board & card games, plenty of comfortable seating for you & your friends, as well as a friendly, fun, confidential, trusting & caring atmosphere. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our teens. Engaging teens in positive, uplifting conversations among themselves & with the staff, encouraging them to get themselves and their families involved with activities at the YMCA, including volunteer experiences.

Back In September, CitiGroup came in & had some Volunteers help to paint our Teen Center. The teens picked out the colors of the walls, inspired by some of the current Cyclone, Iowa Hawkeye and Drake Bulldog wall art.  The room ended up looking fantastic! Though we still have some touch up to do, and we are currently working on our final UNI Panther masterpiece, the teens, staff and members alike all love it! Thanks CitiGroup!

The Teens have many opportunities to get involved in a variety of experiences. Below are just a few snap shots of teens throughout the year getting involved at the John R. Grubb YCMA!
