"Share the Mic" gives to the Grubb Y

 the Grubb Y with proceeds raised during their event.



On Friday, October 28, 2011, the students of Warren G. Harding Middle School hosted "Share the Mic: Community Voices Creating Change," performing self-written, spoken word poetry at the Fort Des Moines Museum. All proceeds raised at the event were donated to the Grubb Community YMCA, an organization providing support and programming for many of Harding’s student. This is the second event in one year where students were asked to use their voices to create positive change in their community and they aren’t stopping there. Students will hold two more "Share the Mic" events throughout the 2011-2012 school year, partnering with other local non-profit organizations that serve the community of Des Moines.
